My husband’s ex GF came back to town and asked him to catch up.

We live in a small town and everyone knows everyone. A few days ago, I got a text from my friend saying that she spotted my husband’s ex-GF, Janet, at the supermarket. And I know that from this point on, it was going to be a matter of time before she bumped into me or my husband.

My husband and I were out one night at a restaurant on a date when we bumped into her. And she was ‘too’ happy to see him. She greeted my husband with a big smile and hugged him tightly, and he was also happy to see her, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. It was clear that she still had feelings for him, which made me wonder if there was unfinished business between them.

They spoke for a while and I just stood there for about 15 minutes, waiting for them to finish catching up. As they talked, I couldn’t help but feel like a third wheel in their conversation. It was as if I didn’t exist at that moment.

I tried to chip in and tell my husband we should get home to the kids since it’s getting late. Janet then suggested to my husband that they meet up for a casual hang-out date to catch up before she heads back to Europe. My husband did not hesitate for a moment before agreeing to Janet’s suggestion.

Eventually they wrapped up their conversation after exchanging numbers and we were able to head home.

The whole way home, I felt insecure and worried about the possibility of them rekindling their past relationship but I said nothing to my husband.

Back in the day, my husband and Janet were high school sweethearts and he was madly in love with her. He was really heartbroken when she told him on his 21st birthday that she was moving to Europe to study archaeology. She had asked him to come along but he couldn’t since he was already halfway through his studies at the university.

However, they had promised to always love each other and wait for each other but that never happened.

My husband and I met in university and we started dating and since then we’ve been together. Janet never returned after she had finished studying.

The next day, my husband was constantly busy on his phone. At the dinner table, he would be texting, and while having movie night, he was texting. I did not ask who he was texting since we both agreed to never act in such a way. I left him and continued to trust that he wouldn’t screw me over. A few days later, my husband texted me that he was working late. It seemed odd to me since he never worked late and was always home on time. I didn’t question him and stayed quiet. The next day again, he was working late and this time I wasn’t going to let it slip past me.

I woke up early the next morning and planted my work phone under the seat of his car. And as suspected, he said he was working late again tonight. So I went into an investigative mood!

I tried to find my iPhone using GPS! And to my surprise, I found my husband’s car at a hotel.

I parked and waited outside to see what he was doing and who he was with.

And of course, he came walking out with Janet in his arms. My heart sank as I watched them embrace, confirming my worst fears. Anger and betrayal coursed through me and I didn’t know how to confront him.
